National Healthcare Day is an annual event organized by Washington Association of Pakistani Physicians (WAPP) in collaboration with Associations of Pakistani Physicians of North America (APPNA) during which volunteer doctors offer variety of free healthcare services to the broader community. Last Saturday, Secretary of Health of Washington State Dr. Umair Shah, who himself a Pakistani American had the opportunity to participate this year’s event at Federal Way, Washington.
The services provided were included different test including but not limited to blood pressure, blood sugar, lipid test, nutrition counseling, vision and hearing test, women and children health check, and a lot of freebees such as free gifts as Dr. Tabassum Saeed, the chairing person of this event told Runta News.
Also, in a brief interview with Runta News, Dr. Umair Shah, the Secretary of Health of Washington State, and Nida Nawaz a board member of WAPP specifically spoke about the youth participation of the event describing it as the most significant thing. Members of the youth impressively provided variety of tests to community members including COVID Test or educating the community how to perform COVID Test, taking temperature, and blood pressure. Both Dr. Shah and Dr. Nawaz praised the youth’s efforts which they described it as great example of preparing the next generation for doing the same in the future. Dr. Umair Shah asked the community to involve in their own health, and the health of their family, and that of their neighbors and the broader community to protect themselves from pandemic.
Dr Wardah Saleem Kashmiri- Founder of the Organization also spoke proudly about the team’s efforts and energy for their service towards the wellbeing of the community. Other Board Members of WAPP who were also present at the event and doing volunteer work were Dr Mohammad Saeed, Dr. Shoaib Siddiqui, Dr Fareed Aarif, Dr Nehal Farooq, Dr. Nouman Ahmad, and other WAPP members of APPNA who all successfully executed their annual Event, ‘National Health Care Day’.
